Toyota is ready to take a bite of the Apple

Toyota's relationship (or lack thereof) with the smartphone giant has been infamous. While other automakers have been rolling out Apple CarPlay™ ™ to their lineup, Toyota was steadfast about not bringing it on on board, instead having customers continue to use their Entune infotainment technology.

That is all changing with the upcoming Toyota Avalon that's entering a new generation for the 2019 model year! It'll be the first vehicle in the new Toyota family to feature iPhone's infotainment system, and frankly we're excited to see this change of heart.

With Apple CarPlay™ drivers see familiar icons (i.e., maps, podcast, music or Spotify, phone etc.) instead of the Entune template. People who drive under other brands with Apple CarPlay™ love this feature because it takes away a typical learning curve with touchscreens, and since Toyota is all about safety this makes perfect sense.

Toyota hasn't released the order of which vehicles will get the iPhone integration next, but if we had to guess we'd pick the Toyota Camry and the Toyota Highlander.

To quote an infomercial: but wait, there's more! Fans of the Alexa system will be pleased to know that Toyota is also releasing her along with Apple CarPlay™. They've even confirmed that Android Auto™ will be available in the future, but have been less firm about the date.

Keep following our blog for updates on this technology, how it'll be integrated onto current models, or news on the redesigned 2019 Toyota Avalon.
